Looks like the racist' support of gun control policies have come full circle.
Why call out republicans for passing gun laws in 1968 when it LBJ who was a Democrat. but not mention every state in the south and the klan was all democrats that pushed slavery, gun laws, black codes, and Jim crow?
There's a cartoon on YouTube called "Bowling for Columbine" that depicts white Americans denying blacks the legal right to own guns.
When truth is exposed, those who spread lies feel threatened…soo they must keep up the facade with more lies in the comments to save face. Can't have the idea that the U.S. is still a racist country and gun laws being made to keep weapons out of the hands of black people out here now. It might interfere with white supremacy a bit…and we can't have that.
The only way the govt will make new policy on gun control is when more black people start to purchase them… it's just that simple
Soo until then…mass shooters, keep at it
Modern gun control in America is the most obvious form of racism I see today
Some hooha in a crescendo, check out more facts. And get your Gun Laws are Racist T-shirt.
The VERY FIRST gun control law in the history of the U.S. was enacted in the Virginia Colony in 1619. It was intended to keep firearms out of the hands of INDIGENOUS PEOPLES.
The major difference between this law and the race-based Virginia gun ban of 1640 is that instead of penalizing blacks for the posession of weapons, the 1619 law penalized the white colonists for providing weapons- "…any piece, shot or powder, or any other arms offensive or defensive…" to the indians. If they were found to be guilty, they were labeled as traitors to the colony, and hanged.
Bigots
Shall not be infringed.
NAAGA>>>>>>> NRA
Ironically enough, left propaganda is now trying to pretend it's actually the 2nd amendment that's racist, not the gun laws that were and are infringing on it
The question is what ISN'T racist in the United States…
All right finally a real actual example of systemic racism. I do not buy into the systemic racism theory as in that the United States is an evil country that is inherently racist and always will be I don't believe that but I am vehemently against gun control I'm against any gun control it doesn't work for one and the people who are affected by it are poor people. This includes African-Americans living in the inner city who probably need to arm themselves to protect themselves far more than anyone else but the same is true for rural poor white communities. It may be different in certain parts of the country but in the state of Maine where I live which is a primarily white state the poor are not thought of when it comes to the right to bear arms. The poor are almost considered out of the loop as if we are not citizens. Also the ridiculous felon ban it should not exist was one of the first major gun control moves In the bipartisan effort to disarm Americans at least poor americans. At first the law seem to make sense to people because at the time the list of felonies was much shorter than it is today it was pretty much confined to murder rape armed robbery things of that nature things that were violent not indirectly but directly violent those were the felonies when the felon gun ban was passed. Now everything seems to be a felony crimes that never would have been felonies in the past are now especially drug laws and other laws that have made crimes that would not have been felonies during the time of the band being passed are now felonies. in addition to that they have expanded the law to include anyone convicted of any crime that carries a possible sentence of one year or more in prison or jail. Well first off that is just about every single offense under the sun. In Maine which is pretty typical of other states as well we have a letter code to our criminal statutes a through c crimes are felonies see being the less serious a being the most serious and then after that you have class d and e crimes which are misdemeanors not felonies but a class d misdemeanor which can be for something as silly as driving an unregistered car would still prohibit someone from having a gun because a class d misdemeanor carries a possible sentence of up to a year in jail. So also with the Advent of de institutionalization and they're being nowhere for seriously mental ill people to go we have seen a rise in violence I'm not sure if it's directly correlated or not I can't prove that but I suspect that if we had enough mental health facilities and we brought back the asylums for the mentally ill not only would we solve a good portion of the homeless problem we would also have less mass shootings because now it's almost impossible to get someone involuntarily into a facility unless and until they actually hurt someone
Wrong !
WOW! Its true that you learn something new everyday! Ronald Reagan and the NRA, conspired, TOGETHER, to DISARM the LEGALLY armed Black Panther Party by passing the Mulford Act! Ronnie said "no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons" So it was FINE and even ENCOURAGED for "others" to exercise their RIGHT to BEAR ARMS, that "holy" 2A people can't shut up about. But it was BAD for the "SCARY" Black Panthers, how does that work?
Good vid anyone saying this vid is wrong is a lil racist.
The NRA was also a gun control lobbying group in the past
Well regulated being able and the people making up the militia. Don’t encroach upon it
You mean 14x more likely to be shot by another black man right? Bcuz police kill more white men than black.
Your media agenda is obvious and intrusive of Americans rights, report your own local news on your side of the world please cause it’s like China reporting on Bloomberg and Biden taking over America……source it
This is bs. Full blown. Gun control law no longer discriminate against black and white, but just against the prior crimes in an individual not a collective group of individuals…
The NRA helped protect freed slaves from the KKK, which was formed by Democrats. The Mulford Act is prohibit anyone to openly carry in Gov buildings.. i.e. the state capital. Also as mentioned LBJ like majority of Democrats Sigrid the GCA. BTW why is a foreigner trying to telling us about American History?
Government places not public were prohibited. I know of no where you can open carry in government buildings. Imagine going to vote when a bunch of thugs are open carrying guns! Aljazerra….cherry picking facts baby.
Politicians ain't nobody's friend.
Stay safe, stay 2nd Amendment
NRA is a joke and Black men need to arm themselves
Exactly why WE The People need to flex the 2nd Amendment
It's not if you look at it historically. All of the gun control acts and laws that have been passed where usually need York reaction from the political side of the aisle from actual violence. Look at the NFA National Firearms Act the reason it came about because of organized crime in all of the violence that it brought. If you look at any major law that was put down had nothing to do with race it had to do with reactionary politics bad to deal with violence. Now you can cherry-pick data and say that it's racial, but the walls themselves in history backup statement.
The whole Saturday night Special argument is pure bollocks. Those guns are outlawed because of the ramp and violence that was going on in America at the time, both white black and hispanic.
And like that liberals started opposing gun control
As long as criminals can get have there guns I'm keeping mind …don't like it ? Take a hike
2:09 colion noir is the debatably the most popular spokes person for the NRA.
The GCA was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on October 22, 1968. GOOGLE IT. Al Jazeera is PROPAGANDA, fake news
Al Jazeera has known for months that this video is wrong and they have not made a correction nor have they taken this video down.
The partisan bias of this video isn't subtle enough.
The only time you let the viewer know the party involved is when the party is the Republicans.
The video doesn't mention that it was the Democrats who passed "Black codes". The video doesn't mention that Democrats passed the laws that required poll taxes and literacy tests to vote. The video also fails to mention policies put in place by Democrats is why so many blacks couldn't get past those hurdles. The video fails to mention that the leaders of the civil rights movement were Republicans. The video fails to mention that Dr. Martin Luther King's request for a gun permit was denied by white Democrats. The video doesn't mention that the laws aimed at disarming groups like the Black Panthers in California in the 60's were put in place by Democrats. The video doesn't mention that although Reagan signed the Mulford Act as a Republican Governor, he had been a member of the Democrat party only five year prior. His political stance was still changing.
And of course, when talking about Saturday Night Specials, the video can't help by let us know that when they think about poor people, they think about black people. Racist much?
The NRA doesn't speak for black gun owner? Really? Who do you think Colion Noir is? Do you know why Carl Rowan, Jr. is? Do you know who J Kenneth Blackwell is?
White Americans are more likely to own guns than Black Americans? That's odd. Of all the black people I know and call friends, I know only three who don't own a gun. And the only reason they don't is because they have felony convictions (I work with homeless men, so I meet and befriend people with a wide variety of back grounds).
"And while Africa-American gun ownership is one the rise, black men are 14 times more likely to be shot and killed than white men." Well, duh! Why do you think more black people are buying guns? Self defense.
