But when will Trevor Noah speak out on gun violence in South Africa!?? Just in my city, we had approximately 156 murders a year!
Now we have 153 murders A MONTH!!! And why!? Because Policing has become so corrupt and LEGAL gun owners have had to turn in our weapons!!! We can't defend ourselves here, because of Apartheid? Apartheid ended in 1994!! Our people are dying TODAY!!! Why does Noah not speak on that!???

Another issue I have with the idea of immigrants not getting involved is no understanding that these issues affect them too. A gunman in a public place doesn’t care about your American status. They’re shooting you either way

If you're American enough to be shot in a mass shooting, you're definitely American enough to have an opinion about gun laws.
It's always striking when Americans talk about how something is an American issue, and outsiders have no say in the matter, but at the same time, they're the ones invading everywhere, and causing all sorts of global problems (banking crisis, rise of ISIS, global warming, etc) and all of it just gets swept under the rug. We, the people of the world, have a say in American matters as long as America meddles in the world's matters.
Just by the way, the whole world is looking down on the U.S. gun laws. They made sense in the wild west 150 years ago when people were exploring the outback. Today they make no sense anymore. Also, if the U.S. is gonna dipp there noses in the affairs of every single country in the world then people outside the U.S, is gonna have opinions about the U.S. You can't steal other peoples cookies and then get mad when you find those people in your pantry.
i think the thing is, yeah sometimes it hurts when foreigners talk shit about your country, but when they do it respectfully and with context, you have to listen and analyze it and see, maybe they are making sense? sometimes a fresh set of eyes helps put an issue from a different perspective… it may even inspire you on how to solve the issue..
